I design hand wrought PMC jewelry with a strong emphasis on vintage textures & patinas. I also design a series of Woven Fine Silver wire pieces through which I have woven found objects, ribbons and an eclectic selection of beads.

 

About Margaret

I have an engineering background and approach jewelry creation from a structural point of view. I am keenly interested in durability combined with beauty for heirloom pieces that can be reinvented with the passage of time. I began attending seminars 4 years ago to increase my knowledge and widen my technique base, but still find the simplest tools and methods the most rewarding to explore.

I strive to expose the organic nature of a piece, but through combination of materials, textures, and patinas to transcend expectations and surprise. A significant portion of my work is created in limited production series-- my muse wanders to explore themes across traditional boundaries. I have worked to create a line of production minded pieces which I will be proud to recreate over the course of time and that I will also love each time I create.

I tend to be a purist inasmuch as I strive to never take the shortest route to design fruition, but to take the most artistically compelling and structurally sound path. I almost never junk or cut up pieces because I believe that each piece has a person and sometimes it just takes a little longer to find the right person. In the last year or so I've learned to trust my artistic intentions and having finally arrived at a point of view, I am ready to seek out broader audiences for my work.
